Scripture is full of images, metaphors, and word pictures, all given by the Holy Spirit to help us understand who God is and who we are in him. What a wonderful gift! But what can we do with it?
In this reflection series, we delve into God’s images and what it might mean for us to be his image bearers in the world.
How does it work???
First, we enter our prayer space. Maybe we choose a quiet, private room in our home. Perhaps we’re more comfortable in a neighborhood coffee shop. The where doesn’t matter. After all, God is everywhere, and always ready to meet with us. What’s important is that we take the time. We turn aside from our daily activities to engage directly with our God.
Choose a scriptural image, metaphor, or picture
Second, we choose a Holy Spirit given image, metaphor, or picture. This set includes 11 different God images for you to use. Each image reflection comes with text and an picture slideshow. We choose one to image to delve into. We read the reflection, look at the pictures, and notice how the metaphor and pictures affect us.
Research God’s-Image for yourself
Then, we do a little research on the image chosen. We search scripture and other writings on the image we chose.
Choose our own image
Finally, we choose our own image. The internet is full of images. We do a little search and choose our own images to express how we see God through the metaphor.
Converse with God
We talk to God about our chosen image. We listen to him. We ask; What’s he saying to me, today? We might journal a bit here.
