Nissi; a banner, a flag, a marker. The Bible’s full of them, but what kind of banner are you? Do you call people to action or welcome the weary home? Are you like a weather flag or a garden flag? If your flag had a size? A shape? A color? A design? What would it look like? Is it plain, busy, bright, or muted?
I’ll bet your banner looks just like you.
My Jehovah Nissi Images
I looked into ‘banners’ in scripture and found so many different kinds. I tried to capture some of them in my images. When I asked the question, “How do people express our God created Nissi image”, I thought about missions. You’ll see what I mean in the pictures.

We’re a colorful lot
You and I – banners. Imagine, Sunday morning, each unique worshipper gathered around the table of the Lord like a summer sky full of beautiful kites. So many amazing colors and shapes. So many different messages. Ah, yes, a banner is message broadcast above the surface of the earth.
How many billions of God-banners have floated over the plains and mountains and seas of the world? How many more will rise up before Jesus returns to restore all things?
The Lord is our banner and he invites each of us to be banners for one another. You are a banner and you are a gift. Remember, a banner is always communal, public, never private. We need you. We need your unique banner to float above the chaos and show us whatever it is God’s created you to show us.
Ah, may the banner of your life be filled with the wind of God’s Spirit.
Reflective Question: What king of banner are you?
